Ivica Propadalo and the "HMS Nautilus" & "HMS
Bounty "
There is a very good reason why these houses have been named the
"HMS
Nautilus" and "HMS
Bounty" and it begins here...
The architect and restorator of these houses is also one of Croatia's
best known artists and musicians: Ivica Propadalo. His interest
in Betina and its tourism has evolved over the years, beginning
with simple promotion of the village to restoring stone-houses which,
together with ship building and fishing, have come to symbolize
Betina.
Ivica Propadalo has placed importance in preserving the character
of these 150 year old stone houses while at the same time creating
a new modern identity.
Stepping through the doorways into these spectacularly restored
houses, you feel as if you are boarding a ship and are sailing through
Croatia's past and present. In true artistic fashion, he has hidden
many a detail in plain view waiting for the discerning eye to discover
it on their journey. One cannot resist the charm of these houses
and their homage to the Sea.
Therefore we fondly refer to Ivica Propadalo as our "Capitan"
and have "christened" the houses with names befitting
the vessels in which they portray... the ::
"HMS Nautilus" and the ::
"HMS Bounty"
